Declan has had his first driving experience (Dec 14th 2009) with Bradley Ellis. Declan won the Bradley Ellis hard charger award at PFI early this year. This was a test day sponsored and run by Bradley Ellis. The test day involved driving a Ford Focus, Mazda MX5 drift car and a Motorbike engined Caterham.

Declan Said, "It was my first time driving a car and it was fantastic, Bradley and Sam were brilliant with me. To drive the RS Ford flat out, to learn how to move the weight of the car and to power slide in the wet was fantastic. Then to learn how to drift the Max 5 drift car was again fantastic.

Working with Bradley was very good and I would like to work with him again in the future, I would recommend any one to work with Bradley and his team.

I would like to thank Carolyn Hoy, Bradley, Sam and Nicky who makes great sandwiches for a great day."

TRADE MARK VICTORY FOR CHRIS SMITH'S CHEVRON CARS LIMITED

Chevron Cars Limited, now owned and run by Chris Smith, has successfully opposed trade mark applications by Vin Malkies' Chevron Racing Team Limited for Chevron B8, B16 and B19 trade marks.

The Intellectual Property Office issued its decision on 25th November after Chevron Cars opposed an attempt by the Malkies' company to obtain trade mark registrations. The Office found that Chevron Cars is "to be considered to be the senior user of the Chevron mark" and refused to grant the trade marks applied for by Chevron Racing Team. It also found that Chevron Racing Team was wrong to believe that the Chevron mark fell into the public domain after Roger Andreason (from whom Chris Smith bought the Chevron business) earlier failed to renew Chevron Cars' previous trade mark registration.

Chevron Racing Team was ordered to pay Chevron Cars' costs.

Chris Smith said: "This Decision is a vindication of my stance since acquiring the Chevron business. We have always owned the original drawings, jigs and components produced by Derek Bennett's original business. The Intellectual Property Office has now also confirmed that we are the senior and true owner of the Chevron mark”

2009 Sebring Historic Classic

The legendary cars that made history at Sebring since 1952 return to America's famed road racing circuit December 3rd-6th, 2009 for the Sebring Historic Fall Classic Presented by the Alan Jay Automotive Network.

Owner Peter McLaughlin will be driving his B19, the ex Duckhams works car Chassis no 24, with Kelvin Jones, Rob Harvey, and John Delain.

Chevron returns to Aintree!!!

Kelvin Jones Motorsport has been restoring and racing historic race cars for 20 years. Our customers are from all walks of life and come from all corners of the world. My company prides itself on the high standard of work and preparation that goes into every car, event and of course, our customers, some of whom have become personal friends and have enjoyed the worry free support we have provided for many years.

We have restored some very famous racing cars, such as:

Lotus MK 3 a Lotus MK 3b, 2 LT Lotus Elite, Jim Clarks first Racing Lotus Elite, ex UDT Lotus 19. ex Lou Brero Jaguar D Type to name but a few!

We have also completed a Peugeot 503 (Pininfarina) left to right hand conversion. Along with our own head lamp conversion.

Rob Harvey's Original B8 being restored for 2009

In the May 2008 issue of Octane Magazine Tony Dron comments:

"The new Chevron B8 shown by Chris Smith at Autosport International in January can only be described as perfection itself. He got Arch Motors to make the chassis out of the correct steel, as used in B8s of 1968-'70. He obtained the correct old-fashioned welding apparatus and he ensured that every bit of the construction was precisely right.
Smith's B8s are built up by Kelvin Jones Motorsports and the results are superb. Chris, the founder and former owner of Westfield Cars, bought the rights to Chevron along with the drawings and much of the tooling, and he is justly proud of his B8. When I sat in his car at the show, it looked, felt and even smelt exactly like a new Chevron did 40 years ago. Undeniably it is a beautiful thing."
